When two trains cross each other, the total distance covered is equal to the sum of their lengths. The time taken depends on the relative speed of the trains. If the trains move in opposite directions, their speeds are added. If they move in the same direction, their speeds are subtracted. The formula used is
Time = (L₁ + L₂) ÷ (S₁ + S₂).
